Performance-related student grant
A performance-related grant is basically a loan. If the student graduates within ten years, repayment is not required. The basic grant and the supplementary grant (after the first year: the first year is always exempt from repayment) and the student travel pass are performance-based. Students can also borrow money from the Information Management Group (IBG).
The performance-related student grant applies since 1996/’97 and in mbo-bol since the school year 2005/’06. Since these years, the performance-related student grant only applies to new students. This means that the financial effects of introduction of the performance-related student grant will gradually become noticeable, because a growing proportion of students is affected. In 2009, only a very small group of students were still covered by the old system.
