Conversion of sludge into compost

Conversion of sludge into compost is a biological process involving micro-organisms that feed on the organic part of the sludge. The heat released during this process makes the water in the sludge largely evaporate. Conversion of sludge into compost is indeed an energy-saving method to dewater sludge. The final product, biogranules, is used as fuel in power stations and cement kilns.
