This article refers only to pupils in year four of the basic vocational track, advanced vocational track and combined track of preparatory secondary vocational education (vmbo). Just as in senior secondary vocational education (mbo), all these vmbo tracks are divided into sectors. The education registrations Statistics Netherlands uses for its statistics contain no information of sector choices of pupils in the advanced track, however. Therefore these pupils are not taken into account. Moreover, the article takes only into account pupils who move from fourth year vmbo directly to mbo in the following school year. These pupils may or may not have a vmbo diploma.
