Small-scale farming

Small farms range between 3 and 20 dsu. Dsu (Dutch size unit) is a measure to indicate the economic size of agricultural activities. The economic size of small farms averages 9.3 dsu. The largest cattle farms in this category, for instance, keep 17 dairy cows or 16 horses. A 6.6 ha arable farm where seed potatoes are grown on clay soil also has an economic size of 20 dsu.
