Figures presented in this article on premature school-leavers are not comparable to those released by the Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs and Science and Statistics Netherlands on school drop-outs, which refer to the annual cross-section of the population of school drop-outs. The present article is based upon a population which started in secondary education in the school year 1993/’94 and states what proportion has left school without a regular diploma after 15 years.
