Net electricity production

Total electricity production minus the amount of electricity required for the production.

The main activity of power stations is generation of electricity. A distinction can be made between:
• centralised generation in large power stations supplying electricity to the national grid on a regular basis
• decentralised generation, i.e. a joint venture between the power station and another company.

There are also industrial and non-industrial companies which generate electricity, usually for in-house consumption.
