European Union

The figures refer to the 25 countries of the European Union in 2005, thus without Rumania and Bulgaria. Cyprus and Malta do not have a railway network.
The figures for Denmark, Greece and Sweden are for 2004. The figures on multiple track railways in Austria are for 1997, and for the United Kingdom for 1991.
