Consumer price index

The consumer price index (CPI) reflects the price trend of a basket of goods and services purchased by the average Dutch household. Included are food, consumer durables like household appliances and cars, energy, housing services (rents) and a number of government services. Consumer-related taxes, e.g. road tax and municipal taxes, such as property tax are included in the CPI. As from 2007, the base year of the CPI is shifted annually. In 2007, the reference year will be 2006. The change of January 2007 with base year 2006 is linked to the series 2000=100 to show long-term developments.
