Crimes

Crimes are very serious punishable acts and are deemed more serious than criminal offences. The various types of crimes and criminal offences are laid down in law.

The following distinction can be made:

  • Violent crimes:
    rape, indecent assault, other sexual crimes, threatening behaviour, attempted murder, physical abuse, culpable homicide or injury, robbery/violent theft and extortion.
  • Crimes against property:
    forgery, larceny, breaking and entering, other aggravated theft, embezzlement, fraud and receiving stolen goods.
  • Vandalism:
    damage to cars, public transport vehicles, buildings and other forms of vandalism.
