2001–2003

The figures are from the Social Statistics Database. Among other things, this database comprises data on persons, jobs and benefits in the Netherlands, and on enrolment in higher education. Three graduate cohorts (1999/’00, 2000/’01 and 2001/’02) were combined to a group of more than 155 thousand native Dutch graduates, 13 thousand graduates with a western foreign background and 10 thousand graduates with a non-western foreign background. For these groups data were combined on the percentage with a job, and the average monthly wage per ethnic origin one year after graduation. The percentage with a job (employed and self-employed) was calculated on the basis of the main source of income. The monthly wage is the taxable wage (the amount on which wage tax is paid) of a person employed on 30 September of the year concerned. The self-employed are excluded from the calculation.
