Four big-city areas

The four big-city areas are referred to by the names of the largest municipalities, which are:

Utrecht: refers to the conurbation of Utrecht and includes the municipalities of Bunnik, De Bilt, Houten, IJsselstein, Maarssen, Nieuwegein, Utrecht and Zeist.

Amsterdam: refers to the COROP area Greater Amsterdam and includes the municipalities of Aalsmeer, Amstelveen, Amsterdam, Beemster, Diemen, Edam-Volendam, Graft-De Rijp, Haarlemmermeer, Landsmeer, Oostzaan, Ouder-Amstel, Purmerend, Uithoorn, Waterland and Zeevang.

The Hague: refers to the COROP area of the conurbation of The Hague and includes the municipalities of Leidschendam-Voorburg, Pijnacker-Nootdorp, Rijswijk, The Hague, Wassenaar and Zoetermeer.

Rotterdam: refers to the (sub)COROP area of Rijnmond and includes the municipalities of Albrandswaard, Barendrecht, Bergschenhoek, Berkel en Rodenrijs, Bernisse, Bleiswijk, Brielle, Capelle aan den IJssel, Hellevoetsluis, Krimpen aan den IJssel, Maassluis, Ridderkerk, Rotterdam, Rozenburg, Schiedam, Spijkenisse, Vlaardingen and Westvoorne.
