Table explanation
This table contains figures on the consumer price index (CPI). The CPI measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by households in the Netherlands for their own consumption. The table provides information on the moving average of the CPI over a period of twelve months. In addition, the annual rate of change of this moving average is shown.
For the CPI, annual figures are released at the end of each calendar year. The figures in this table complement those figures. In addition to the annual figures for a calendar year, a moving average is established for every consecutive period of twelve months. The figures for December in this table match the annual figures for a calendar year.
The table also shows the moving average of the derived CPI. This is the CPI that excludes the effect of changes in the rates of product-related taxes (e.g., VAT or excise taxes). As such, the price index approximates what the price change would be if tax rates had remained the same.
Data available from: December 2010.
Status of the figures:
When the figures for a given reporting month are published for the first time, they are provisional. The final figure is published in the second publication for the same month. Any differences between the provisional and final figures are due to additional source data.
Changes compared to the previous version include:
None, this is a new table.
When will new figures be published?
The new figures are usually published between the first and second Thursday of the month following the reporting month.
All CPI publication dates are shown in the publication calendar (see paragraph 3).
