Description topics
- Import of goods
- Imports of goods occurs when economic ownership of goods is passed from non-residents to residents. This applies irrespective of corresponding physical movements of goods across borders. A company or authority is considered to be a resident when it has been operational within the Netherlands for at least one year. This applies to all companies and authorities, regardless of whether they are foreign-owned or not. Goods imports also include re-exports: previously imported goods which are exported again, often after undergoing minimal processing, e.g. where ownership is subsequently transferred to non-residents (re-exports).
