Changes as of 14-01-2011:
- New figures have been added for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007.
- Due to the availability of better information regarding the separate functions of university hospitals, being curative care, research and education, the results of 2003 and 2004 on universities and university hospitals have been adjusted.

Labour volume
The labour volume of R&D staff converted to full-time equivalents (FTE).
Expenditure
Expenditure on R&D activities carried out by own staff. This includes
gross wage costs for R&D FTEs and investment in buildings,
laboratories, equipment and land for R&D purposes and other current
expenditures on R&D.
