Description topics

Total all households
Average amount spent
Average annual spending per household.
Average spending (%)
Standard error (%)
Standard error as a percentage of the expenses concerned.
Sample errors are generated because only part of a specific population is
surveyed. Such errors do not occur if an integral survey is conducted.
Recurrent sampling will not always lead to the same results.
The difference between an estimate based on a sample and the real value,
i.e. the value based on an integral survey, is referred to as the
estimate error. It can be quantified by means of the standard error. The
standard error indicates the reliability intervals for the calculation of
the estimated average expenditure. The following instance may elucidate:
In the 2000 sample, the average expenditure on food was 4,289 euro. The
standard error of food 1%, that is 43 euro.
Thee 95% reliability margins for the average expenditure on food are
4,205 euro (= 4,289 - 1.96 x 43) and 4,373 euro (= 4,289 + 1.96 x 43).
The 95% reliability interval is defined as the chance that the actual
average expenditure on food is included in the interval (4,205 euro;
4,373 euro) is 95%.
