What is sustainability?

Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
This concerns our ability to form our quality of life without putting a pressure on the needs of future generations or on citizens elsewhere in the world. Quality of life refers to, amongst others, consumption, nature, health, trust, education and the self-reported satisfaction with those aspects. All these matters contribute to the quality of life.
