Statistics Netherlands (CBS) collects data from individuals, companies and institutions. Any information that would enable those individuals, companies and institutions to be identified is replaced with a unique code as soon as possible after we receive the data. This is known as pseudonymisation. CBS then uses this pseudonymised data for its statistical research. CBS only publishes statistical information if it is impossible to identify or trace any individuals from it. Measures are also taken to prevent the theft, loss or misuse of personal data.
