Type of motor vehicle by fuel type, 2019-2023

This table contains data on the fleet of motor vehicles with fuel type and distinguishes for example fully electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles for 2019 to 2023.

The table contains all vehicle types including fully electric vehicles (FEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) as separate categories. These are included in the vehicle registration database of the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) on January 1st: the status at the first of January in the years 2019 through 2023. The 2023 data are preliminary. The existing (combinations of) fuel types are displayed per vehicle type. The EU vehicle type classification is used.

The motor vehicle population is based on the registration plate register of the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW). The population of a specific year consists of vehicles that were active on January 1st, with a Dutch number plate which were insured during (part of) the year.
