Income distribution

The visualisation shows how income is distributed over households in the Netherlands.

The chart displays the number of households per income group. This concerns standardised income: disposable income adjusted for differences in household size and composition. This is also referred to as purchasing power.

Click on one of the household characteristics below the chart to select one or more groups.

Click on the “show average income” button for the average income of the groups displayed.

Place the cursor on one of the income categories. You will then see how many households fall into this category and what percentage of households have a higher income.

The income distribution runs from -6 thousand euros to 100 thousand euros. Households on a higher or lower income are not displayed in the chart, but are included in calculations, where needed.
