Occupational level

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) makes use of the CBS ROA Occupational Classification from 2014 (BRC 2014) with respect to occupational levels. It comprises four occupational levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 4 the highest.

• Level 1: Simple routine tasks that require a basic or lower level of education, such as agricultural labour, restocking shelves in shops, newspaper deliveries.
• Level 2: Tasks of low to moderate complexity that require lower or secondary education, such as receptionists, security staff, car mechanics.
• Level 3: Complex tasks that require secondary or higher education, such as accountancy, pharmacy assistants, social workers.
• Level 4: Highly complex specialist tasks that require higher or academic education, such as school teachers, architects, doctors.
