Multi-parenting

Some people decide, even before the child is conceived, that the child will be raised by more than two parents (multi-parenting). This usually involves same-sex couples who raise a child with another parent or with another couple in a different household.

There are no figures available on multi-parenting, as this family structure cannot be derived from the data recorded. This is because a child can only be registered at one address and can have a maximum of two legal parents.
