The deficit for 2024 was 8 billion euros. That is 0.7 percent of GDP, 0.2 percentage points less than the initial figure. This adjustment was made primarily because the provisional figures from government bodies have been superceded by definitive figures, such as annual accounts. The local government deficit has been adjusted by 1 billion euros and is 2.7 billion euros. The surplus in the social security fund has been increased by 14.2 billion euros because health care spending was 0.8 billion lower than initially calculated. Finally, the government deficit was reduced by 0.6 billion euros to 19.7 billion euros.
