Official estimate

The figures presented in this news release reflect the first estimate for the government sector in 2025, calcuated by Statistics Netherlands.

The figures published by Statistics Netherlands are the official figures on the government balance and total public debt in the Netherlands. These will be submitted to the European Commission in the context of the excessive deficit procedure (EDP). Reporting takes place twice each year, on 1 April and 1 October. The EU statistical agency Eurostat will verify the figures on deficits and debts of all member states, which must be submitted by 1 April 2026, and publish the final figures on 22 April 2024.
