Agricultural holding type

The classification by agricultural holding type is based on economic value, which is measured in terms of the total standard production value in euros. A holding falls under a certain holding type if two-thirds or more of its total standard output come from agricultural activities related to this holding type.

There are eight main agricultural holding types: five single main types (arable farms, horticultural farms, perennial crop farms, grazing livestock farms, and livestock farms) and three combinations (crop combinations, livestock combinations, and crop/livestock combinations).

Within this classification, approximately forty extensive farm types are distinguished, including goat farms.
