Standard output

An economic measure used to quantify the size of agricultural holdings and which is based on the average annual revenue per crop or animal category.

Standard output has been in use since 2010. The standard output is identified for each crop and animal category based on average values over a five-year period, and is updated every three years. The standard output of a farm is the sum of the standard output values for all its crops and animals, expressed in euros. For the agricultural census, a lower limit of 3 thousand euros has been applied since 2010. A farm with less than 3 thousand euros in standard output could be, for example, a farm with a maximum of two dairy cows or a maximum of two acres of green bell pepper.
