One gigawatt-peak (GW) equals one billion watt-peak. A watt-peak is a unit used to indicate the maximum output of a solar panel installation under standard test conditions (STC). For example, one kWp is equal to 1,000 watt-peak (Wp). It therefore indicates the maximum amount of electricity the installation can generate under ideal conditions.
