The business confidence indicator reflects the mood among businesses in the private sector (excluding the financial sector) in the Netherlands. The index is compiled for each individual sector, on the basis of survey questions regarding recent developments and expectations among businesses. The same questions are asked across every sector, and concern current economic circumstances.
Business confidence is then compiled using a weighted average of business confidence in each sector. The questions used to gauge business confidence are taken from the Nether-lands Business Survey (COEN). This survey is conducted among companies with five or more employees in the private sector (excluding the financial sector; i.e. banks, insurance com-panies and pension funds). Back to article
