Passenger figures by airport and airline are recorded by airport operators. CBS classifies these into budget airlines and traditional airlines. Budget airlines have particular ways of keeping their costs as low as possible. Their fares are often lower than those of regular airlines, but passengers have to pay extra for services such as luggage, seat reservations or refreshments during the flight, for example. These airlines often fly at less popular (and therefore cheaper) times of day. Budget airlines also fly the same type of aircraft and use these intensively.
