Reason for migration and year of arrival

Whether the reason for migration is known depends on the nationality of a person upon arrival:

• For persons of Dutch nationality, the reason for migration is unknown.
• For persons holding the nationality of another EU or EFTA country (The European Free Trade Association is the intergovernmental organisation of Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland), the reason for migration is derived from their activities in the Netherlands. This information is available until the end of 2023.
• Other nationalities (non-EU/EFTA) must report to the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). The reason for migration is based on their residence permit. This information is available until the end of 2024.
