Person entering the housing market
This is a person who moves within the country from a dependent household position to an independent household position:
- a child who leaves the parental home to live on their own
- another member of the household who moves out to live on their own (for example, a grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister)
- a person living in an institutional household who moves out to live on their own (for example, from an asylum seeker reception centre)
People who come to live in the Netherlands can also be considered as persons entering the housing market. This includes both persons with an independent position in the household and those with a dependent position in the household. This means that both the parents and the children of one family are classified as persons entering the housing market when they relocated to the Netherlands.
