First-time fathers

The average age of the father at the birth of his first child refers to the father’s age at the birth of the mother's first live-born child. The age of fathers who are unknown has been estimated.

It is not always known who the father of a child is, so it is not always certain whether a child registered as the first child is actually the first child of a father.
