Hourly wages

Average gross hourly wages are calculated by dividing the sum of employees' wages by the sum of the corresponding working hours. This is data on a year-on-year basis.
These gross wages exclude overtime pay and special remuneration (such as holiday allowance and 13th month pay).

Working hours are the agreed number of hours to be worked on an annual basis. In this calculation, paid leave hours related to holidays and public holidays are deducted from working hours. Paid overtime hours are not included. Reduction of workiong hours (ADV) are not part of paid hours, and are excluded from the calculation. For full-time employees in 2024, this was an average of 1,791 working hours per year, or more than 34 hours per week.

The figures from the Employment and Earnings Statistics (SWL) are based on data on all individual jobs of workers in the Netherlands.
