Formal childcare
Formal childcare is defined as:
• day care for children aged between 0-3 years;
• out-of-school care for primary school children (both before and after school and during school holidays);
• care provided by parent-participation crèches or childminders through a childminder agency.
The Childcare and Nursery Care Quality Requirements Act (WKKP) only applies to formal childcare that is registered with a municipality. Informal care is not covered by this law. School-aged children who require supervision during breaks are not covered by this law either.
