Long-life products grown specifically for feed purposes that have undergone no or some simple processing. Roughage has a relatively low nutrient content per unit of weight. It is used for cattle, horses and sheep. Examples of roughage include (silage) maize, hay, and silage and pasture grass. Storage of roughage takes place in bales, silos and pits.
