This news release contains two aspects. Firstly, figures are presented on accidental drownings, i.e. all drownings not due to transport accidents, suicides, homicides or other causes. These include drowning indoors, e.g. in the bathtub at home or in an indoor swimming pool, and drowning outdoors. Secondly, figures are shown for non-accidental drownings including suicides, transport accidents and other drownings. The figures on residents relate to people who were living in the Netherlands and were registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) at the time of death.
