How do CBS and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce plan to cooperate during the revision?

CBS determines the classification of business activities in the SBI 2025 code system. The Chamber of Commerce is responsible for correctly assigning SBI codes to enterprises according to their activities. CBS receives daily updates of the SBI codes assigned to enterprises by the Chamber of Commerce. This takes place even if there is no SBI revision.

CBS and the Chamber of Commerce are collaborating closely to ensure that businesses will also be correctly classified in SBI 2025. In the weekend of 6-7 September 2025, the Chamber of Commerce adopted the new SBI 2025 for the Dutch Business Register. From 2026 to 2029 Statistics Netherlands will switch to SBI 2025 in phases.
