The general child benefit act offers a financial compensation for the cost of child care.
For children born before 1 January 1995 the benefits depend on family size and age of the child. Parents receive a fixed amount for children born on or after 1 January 1995, depending on the age. In the Dutch social security system this is a social insurance.
