Fewer unemployment benefits than after last economic boom
In September 2008, more than 161 thousand unemployment (WW) benefits were paid. The number has declined relative to the end of the last economic boom.

By the end of September this year, 251 thousand unemployment (WW) benefits were granted, a decline by 3 thousand relative to one year previously.

Unemployment slightly up in May
In May 2022, unemployment stood at 323 thousand. This is 3.3 percent of the labour force and slightly higher than in April 2022, when it was 3.2 percent.
Unemployment slightly down in February
In February, 356 thousand people aged 15 to 74 years were unemployed.
No further decline in unemployment in January
In January, 360 thousand people aged 15 to 74 years were unemployed.
Unemployment further down
In March 2021, 326 thousand people were unemployed. From January through March, unemployment declined by an average of 14 thousand per month.

In September 2022, there were 382 thousand unemployed. Just as in August, this was equivalent to 3.8 percent of the labour force.

Sustained decline unemployment
Unemployment declined by an average of 6 thousand a month over the past three months and stood at 463 thousand in March.

Employment growth continues
Employment grew in July. The number of people without work dropped.
Unemployment continues downward trend
Unemployment declined by 13 thousand per month over the previous three months, ending at 502 thousand in October.
Generally, employed people are more satisfied
People who have accepted a job are more often satisfied than they were in the years prior to employment. The same applies people in their first years of retirement.

According to figures released today, Dutch government deficit amounted to 4.7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011.
