      <title>Unemployment up in November, particularly among young people</title>
      <description>There were 408 thousand unemployed persons in November 2025. Just as in September and October, 4.0 percent of the labour force aged 15 to 74 years were unemployed. The number of unemployed persons and the number of people employed has risen by an average of 2 thousand per month over the past three months. Unemployment is rising mainly among young people. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this on the basis of newly released figures. At the end of November, the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) records included 194 thousand current unemployment (WW) benefits.</description>

      <title>Rise in poverty rate after five years of decreases</title>
      <description>A total of 551 thousand people in the Netherlands were living in poverty in 2024. That was 3.1 percent of the population, and more than in 2023 when 2.7 percent were living in poverty. The poverty rate in the Netherlands had fallen for five successive years, but increased again last year. The proportion of children living in poverty remained unchanged from 2023, at 2.8 percent. This is one of the findings presented in the publication ‘Life in Poverty 2025’, which was produced by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) at the request of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.</description>

      <description>The average hourly wage for women in the private sector in the Netherlands in 2024 was 14.5 percent lower than that for men. In 2022, the gap was 16.4 percent. Even when differences between individuals, jobs and employers are taken into account, the gender pay gap has narrowed from 6.9 percent to 6.1 percent. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this on the basis of the 2024 Monitor of Differences in pay between men and women.</description>
