The Tax and Customs Administration asks me for the same information, so why do I still have to complete this questionnaire?

Of course, the government makes every effort to request information only once. As CBS we are therefore obliged to check whether there are sources within the government sector from which we can obtain the information we require. However, there are cases in which the necessary data cannot (or cannot yet) be accessed from other sources because they are simply not available or are insufficient. There also cases in which the necessary data are not available withing the necessary time frame or the quality of the data is not sufficient.
In that case the Director General of Statistics is authorised to request the data directly and free of charge from companies themselves (Section 33 of the Statistics Netherlands Act). This applies to Annual Statistics and to other categories of statistics.
