What does the survey comprise?
Purpose
The survey aims to give a quantitative description of outstanding debts of individuals on current accounts.
Target population
Accounts at Dutch banks held by natural persons and non-profit associations and foundations.
Statistical unit
The total amount of debt on current accounts of natural persons and non-profit associations and foundations.
Date/year survey started
June 2010.
Frequency
Monthly.
Publication strategy
All data are definite when published. Any subsequent changes are the result of the release of new or more recent data.
How is the survey conducted?
Survey type
Statistics Netherlands does not its own conduct survey, but uses data from the Dutch Central Bank
Survey method
Secondary observation is used. The Dutch Central Bank collects data from reporting banks and supplies these data to Statistics Netherlands.
Respondents
All banks that are legally required to report data to the Dutch Central Bank.
