Price increases in manufacturing industry less substantial again

In August, factory gate prices in the Dutch manufacturing industry were nearly 8 percent higher than one year previously. The increase was 1.2 percent point less than in July. In the first months of 2010, prices of manufactured products soared. Selling prices were 11 percent higher in April than in the same month one year previously. After this, the monthly increases slowed down.

In August, selling prices on the export market were up by 9 percent, on the domestic market by nearly 6 percent. Since December 2009, selling prices on the export market have been rising faster than on the domestic market.

Prices in the manufacturing industry rose in nearly all branches. With 18 percent, the chemical industry showed the most substantial price increase. In oil and basic metal products manufacturers raised their prices by 16 percent. The oil and chemical industries saw smaller price rises than in July while the food industry saw its prices rise to nearly 7 percent in August. 

Selling prices in August were up 0.2 percent on July.
