635 bankruptcies in June

In June this year, 635 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt, an increase by more than 230 relative to May. The increase follows a period of two months, in which the number of bankruptcies declined.

As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days courts are in session, it may vary considerably from month to month. Therefore, the three-monthly moving average is a more reliable indicator.

In June, the three-monthly moving average stood at 512. This is slightly lower than in May.
