Conventional and renewable energy

Renewable energy is energy from resources which do not get depleted due to consumption. A distinction is made between wind energy, solar energy, geothermal heat, hydropower and biomass combustion. Biomass is included because the volume of waste material which is combusted is replaced by more or less equal quantities of trees and plants . Conventional energy mainly comes from the combustion of fossil fuels such as petroleum products, natural gas and coal. Nuclear energy also falls into this category.
