Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets grew by 4.4 percent in May 2016 relative to the same month last year. The increase is less substantial than in the preceding month. Investments in residential property almost entirely account for the increase.

Investment data are not adjusted for calendar effects. May has two working days more than May 2015. According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is more favourable in July than in May.

Investments in residential property further up

Investments in residential property almost entirely account for the growth of investments in May. Investments in machinery, computers, trucks and trailers were also higher than in May 2015. Investments in infrastructural projects and cars, on the other hand, declined.

Investment climate more favourable in July

According to Statistics Netherlands’ Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands has improved in July compared May. The situation on the sales markets and the financial markets is a relevant factor for the investment climate in general. July’s Investment Radar shows that exports growth and the mood among Dutch manufacturers about their order positions improved in July relative to May.
