Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) Act

With the introduction of the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) Act on 6 January 2014, data on other nationalities of Dutch citizens are no longer recorded. This means that - since 6 January 2014 - data on non-Dutch nationalities of Dutch citizens who are registered in the BRP for the first time, are no longer entered in the BRP. Data on non-Dutch nationalities of Dutch citizens who were already registered in the BRP are no longer kept up-to-date since 31 January 2015.
It means that information on Dutch citizens who also have one or more non-Dutch nationalities is no longer complete after 6 January 2014. Only to the registration of non-Dutch nationalities is discontinued. As a result of this procedure, it might seem as if these people have lost their non-Dutch nationality/nationalities, which is not the case. The introduction of the BRP Act has no bearing on the nationality/nationalities of the registered persons.
