Chronic enteritis (also called inflammatory bowel disease) refers to Crohn’s disease and colitis ulcerosa. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammation which may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Colitis ulcerosa is a chronic, local inflammation of the large intestine and/or rectum. Chronic enteritis patients experience periods of active intestinal inflammation and periods of reduced activity.
