The Dutch municipal population registration states one of the present ‘new’ countries (created following the break-up of Yugoslavia in 1991/1992) as country of birth for only a small group of people born in this region. For by far most of them, their country of birth is recorded as ‘former Yugoslavia’. To classify the latter group by country of birth, an allocation method was used based on the place of birth of these persons. Back to article
