Sustained substantial decline in private sector investments

The volume of private sector investments in tangible fixed assets was nearly 14.1 percent down in March 2013 from March 2012. The decline is somewhat more substantial than in February, when private sector investments were 12.1 percent down from one year previously.

The decrease in investments in construction in particular was more substantial than in February. Investments in transport equipment, on the other hand, fell by less than one month previously.

Both February and March had one working day fewer in 2013 than in 2012. Figures on private sector investments are not adjusted for the effect of the number of working days.
