The data on whether or not mothers use maternity care and the hours of care they receive are taken from Statistics Netherlands’ Health Survey. All women aged 15-49 years are asked whether they have given birth in the last two years, and if so how many times. For each birth they are subsequently asked whether they made use of maternity care in the period following the birth, and if so for how many hours overall. This article is based only on data concerning the women’s most recent birth, these numbered 681. As the survey is a sample survey, the results are subject to a margin of error.
